Chair of Joint Chiefs calls for lifting ban on gay military service

The military's top uniformed officer on Tuesday made an impassioned plea for allowing gays to serve openly in uniform, telling a Senate panel it was a matter of integrity and that it is wrong to force people to "lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens."

Sculpture on campus causes unintended giggles

University of Alabama instructor Craig Wedderspoon's sculpture "Argyle" stands in Woods Quad on the campus in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010. Wedderspoon has put up the new work that some say looks oddly phallic, it's part of his series of works intending to reference fabrics and textiles.

Obama spanks GOP

The GOP-TV network ended its viewing week with Obama’s Q-and-A session with Republicans. I’m not saying the boys on the other side of the aisle bent over and set themselves up for a well-deserved spanking at every turn – but if the theme music for the next session isn’t “(Lookin’ Like a Fool) With Your Pants on the Ground”, some wanna-be marketing genius will have passed up the opportunity of a lifetime.
