Chair of Joint Chiefs calls for lifting ban on gay military

The military's top uniformed officer on Tuesday made an impassioned plea for allowing gays to serve openly in uniform, telling a Senate panel it was a matter of integrity and that it is wrong to force people to "lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens."

Sculpture on campus causes unintended giggles




University of Alabama instructor Craig Wedderspoon's sculpture "Argyle" stands in Woods Quad on the campus in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010. Wedderspoon has put up the new work that some say looks oddly phallic, it's part of his series of works intending to reference fabrics and textiles.
